Major Gambling Scandal Expands

The biggest story today is the widespread sports gambling investigation that continues to rock college basketball.  Dayton announced it is withholding transfer Adam Njie from competition due to eligibility issues connected to the ongoing NCAA gambling probe.  This comes as federal investigators from the U.S. Attorney's Office are conducting a sweeping investigation into illegal gambling, game-fixing, and performance manipulation.

The scandal has already implicated players from multiple schools including Eastern Michigan, Temple, Arizona State, New Orleans, North Carolina A&T, and Mississippi Valley State.  Last week, 34 people were arrested, including NBA players Terry Rozier and coach Chauncey Billups.  Sources indicate the number of schools with players under investigation is expected to roughly double in the coming weeks as the season approaches (November 3 start date).
