NCAA March Madness Expansion to 76 Teams
The NCAA is reportedly expected to finalize an expansion of the men's and women's NCAA Tournaments from 68 to 76 teams. This significant change would add eight more at-large spots to the tournament field. The expansion would alter the First Four format, turning it into 12 games played over two days, with 24 teams participating in the opening round. This move aims to broaden tournament access for emerging programs but has also sparked debate and backlash among fans and analysts regarding the potential dilution of the tournament field.
Transfer Portal Activity and Roster Rebuilding
The college basketball transfer portal is significantly impacting team rosters. Ole Miss has actively recruited, adding forwards Roman Siulepa, ND Okafor, Christian Brown, and guard Adam Clark, while the women's team welcomed nine new players. Duke strengthened its 2026 - 27 roster with center Patrick Ngongba's return and transfer guard John Blackwell.
