March Madness Bracket Revealed
The field of 68 for the 2026 NCAA Men's Basketball Tournament was unveiled on Selection Sunday, with Duke, Arizona, Michigan, and Florida earning the four No. 1 seeds. Duke was named the overall top seed but faces a challenging path to the Final Four in a region that includes powerhouse programs like UConn, Michigan State, and Kansas. Michigan enters the tournament as a slight betting favorite to win the national championship.
The tournament is set to begin with the First Four on March 17 and 18, followed by the first and second rounds from March 19 - 22. The Final Four will take place in Indianapolis on April 4, with the championship game on April 6.

Across the country, high school basketball seasons are culminating in state championship tournaments.
Michigan Crowns State Champions
The Michigan High School Athletic Association (MHSAA) boys basketball state championships concluded at the Breslin Center with four teams earning titles. In Division 1, Rockford captured its first state championship since 2003 with a 54 - 50 victory over defending champion East Lansing. Freeland secured its first-ever state title in Division 2, defeating Hudsonville Unity Christian 42 - 32. In a thrilling Division 3 final, Pewamo-Westphalia held off a historic 41-point performance from Pontiac ATAP's Lewis Lovejoy to win 61 - 57. Concord also claimed a state championship in Division 4.
West Charlotte Lions Win 8A State Title
WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - The West Charlotte Lions have once again ascended to the pinnacle of North Carolina high school basketball, capturing the 8A state championship in a heart-stopping 70 - 68 comeback victory over the Wilmington Hoggard Vikings on Wednesday, March 11.
The Lions found themselves in a significant deficit early, with Hoggard establishing a commanding 22 - 10 advantage after the first quarter. The Vikings maintained their lead for most of the contest and were still ahead by eight point with only four minutes remaining on the clock.
However, in a stunning turn of events, West Charlotte mounted a furious rally, executing a 12 - 2 run to level the score. With the game tied at 68 - 68 in the final moments, the Lions orchestrated a memorable game-winning play; Kaharri Coleman found Sean Johnson, who scored the decisive basket with just five seconds left to seal the championship.
Johnson finished with six points on the night, but his final two were the most consequential of the season, delivering the program its seventh state title in its storied history.
Following the victory, the school took to social media to express its gratitude, acknowledging the collective effort of coaches, players, staff, students, alumni, and the broader West Charlotte community. The celebration underscored that the championship was a shared triumph - a testament to the unity and pride that defines the Lions program.
Other State Tournament Updates
- Indiana: The Indiana High School Athletic Association (IHSAA) has set the brackets for its boys' basketball state championships, which will begin on March 21, 2026.
- Connecticut: The Connecticut Interscholastic Athletic Conference (CIAC) has announced the pairings for its boys and girls basketball Final Fours, with semifinal games scheduled for March 16 and 17.
- Pennsylvania: The Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic Association (PIAA) playoffs are in the semifinal round, with several teams from the Philadelphia area still in contention for a state title.
