RIP Stacey King
The day’s most emotional college basketball story was the death of Stacey King, the former Oklahoma All-American, 1988 NCAA championship-game participant, 1989 No. 6 NBA Draft pick, three-time Chicago Bulls champion, and longtime Bulls broadcaster. On3 reported that Oklahoma coach Porter Moser called King “a true Oklahoma legend” and said the program would honor him during the upcoming season. His passing was a major story because King’s career bridged college stardom, NBA championships, and a long broadcasting presence.

According to 247Sports, Pastre is a 6-foot-6 wing who played professionally for Pinheiros, represented Brazilian youth national teams, competed at Global Jam, and attended two Basketball Without Borders camps. His commitment gives Ed Cooley’s program a perimeter player with international experience and immediate roster relevance for 2026-27.
U.S. College Basketball Stories
UConn made a practical but important staff move by adding Mike Pegues as assistant coach and Justin McLelland as director of men’s basketball strength and conditioning. The official UConn release emphasized Pegues’ Big East background and more that 15 years of college coaching experience, while McLelland returns to Connecticut after strength-and-conditioning stops that included Villanova, Clemson, East Carolina, and Florida. For a national power under Dan Hurley, staff continuity and player development infrastructure remain major offseason priorities.
