UConn Defeats Kansas

In a significant NCAA men's basketball matchup, the No. 4 ranked UConn Huskies defeated the Kansas Jayhawks 61 - 56 at Allen Fieldhouse.  This victory was particularly noteworthy as it marked a rare occasion where the Jayhawks were underdogs on their home court.  Both teams were missing key players, with UConn playing without their leading scorer and rebounder, Tarris Reed, and Kansas missing their top player, Darryn Peterson.  The win improved UConn's record to 7 - 1 and solidified their position as a top national contender.

Duke Beats Florida

In another exciting contest, the No. 4 Duke Blue Devils narrowly defeated the No. 15 Florida Gators 67 - 66 in the ACC/SEC Challenge.  The game was decided in the final seconds, with Duke's Isaiah Evans gitting a go-ahead three-pointer.  Cameron Boozer led the Blue Devils with an impressive 29 points.  this victory kept Duke's undefeated season alive, moving them to a 9 - 0 record.

Scholastic News

The Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic Association (PIAA) has officially approved the use of a shot clock in high school basketball, starting with the 2028 - 29 season.  This decision makes Pennsylvania the 32nd state to adopt a shot clock, which will be set at 35 seconds for both junior varsity and varsity games.  The move has been met with mixed reactions, with supporters praising the potential for a more fast-paced and entertaining game, while others have raised concerns about the financial costs for schools.

Looking ahead, ESPN has announced its 2025 - 26 High School Basketball Showcase schedule, which will feature 12 games and 38 of the nation's top-ranked players.  The showcase will include major events like the City of Palms Classic and the Hoophall Classic, and will feature future starts committed to top college programs such as Duke, Kansas, and Kentucky.
